Our Physicians
Jan Walker, MD, FAAP
“I love playing with the children and watching them discover the world.”
In high school, Dr. Walker discovered she liked people as much as science, and decided that using science to care for people would bring her more joy than advancing the field. Dr. Walker joined the Wayne Medical Group for the first time in 1992, where she practiced at the Wolcott office for eight years before beginning subspecialty training in development Pediatrics at the Kirch Developmental Services Center at the University of Rochester. She was a member of the Unity Pediatric Development Unit, involved in subspecialty developmental behavioral practice, until returning to the Wayne Medical Group in 2006. Her special interests include learning and behavior problems.
Dr. Walker attended medical school at the University of Michigan. She completed a flexible internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
Michael Shoemaker, MD
"I really enjoy getting to know the community by working with parents and their children."
Inspired by a family friend, Dr. Shoemaker became a physician, choosing pediatrics because he wanted the challenge of working with children and their families.
Dr. Shoemaker attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College, followed by an internship at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. He completed his residency at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
