Today, more and more people struggle with weight gain - some to a point where it becomes life threatening. If you're significantly overweight and have tried to lose weight with a healthy diet and exercise without success, bariatric surgery (often called "weight loss surgery") may be an option for you.

According to a National Institute of Health (NIH), Bariatric surgery is usually a treatment for men who are at least 100 pounds overweight and women who are at least 80 pounds overweight. Surgery is sometimes an option for people who are less overweight and have diabetes, heart disease or sleep apnea.
