Gastroenterology
What is a Gastroenterologist?
Gastroenterologists are Internal Medicine physicians with extensive training in diagnosing and treating problems that deal with digestive organs - the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, small and large intestine, bile ducts and gallbladder. Although the Gastroenterologist does not operate, he is able to utilize new techniques and instruments to examine the intestines internally. You may benefit from the specialized care of a gastroenterologist if you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
- Persistent nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Blood in your bowel movements
- Change in bowel habits
- Ongoing diarrhea
- Constipation
- Swallowing difficulty
- Heartburn
- Jaundice
