Comprehensive Cancer Radiation Therapy
The Lipson Cancer Center’s Eva & Benjamin Lipson Department of Radiation Oncology offers comprehensive, radiation therapy services. These services include consultation,
treatment planning, CT simulation, radiation treatment and appropriate follow-up. More on Radiation Therapy
Radiation Oncologists direct care and treatment using state-of-the-art technology including 3-D and IMRT treatment planning. They are supported by a nurse practitioner and a staff of medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and oncology specialist nurses.
The department is equipped with two modern linear accelerators (one with electron capabilities) and a CT/Simulator. Brachytherapy is provided with various sealed radioisotopes. Permanent prostate brachytherapy and intracoronary artery brachytherapy for restenosis are both available.
Transrectal Ultrasound Guided implants of the prostate are performed using a new ultrasound unit and treatment planning-planning computer.
The Department of Radiation Oncology is located on the ground floor of Rochester General Hospital in the Lipson Cancer Center. A parking lot with direct entrance to the cancer center is available adjacent.
