Rochester General Hospital Celebrates Hospital Week
May 10, 2010
Rochester General Health System president and CEO Mark Clement was joined by RPD Officer Anthony DiPonzio, RPD Police Chief David Moore, and RGH Caregivers to help kick off our Hospital Week 2010 celebration. It was standing room only in the Polisseni Pavilion at noontime as Officer DiPonzio, who was shot in the head by an assailant last year, thanked everyone at Rochester General for the excellent care he received 'at his favorite hospital.'
The celebration of National Hospital Week began in 1921 when a magazine editor suggested that more information about hospitals might alleviate public fears about the "shrouded" institutions of the day. From that beginning, Hospital Week expanded to facilities across the nation. Today, National Hospital Week is the largest health care event that celebrates hospitals' history, technology and dedicated health care professionals.
