Polisseni Foundation Donates $100,000 to Rochester General for New Constantino Patient Access Center
Rochester General Hospital has received $100,000 from The Polisseni Foundation for construction of the new Constantino Patient Access Center. The Center will open next year. It honors the dedicated physician, Dr. Richard Constantino, an internist whose entire career has focused on improving the lives of patients at Rochester General Hospital.
“On behalf of the Polisseni Family, we are very pleased to be able to make this gift in recognition of Dr. Constantino and the fine quality of care he provided to Eugene Polisseni and so many others in our community,” said Glenn Pezzulo, member of the Board of Directors of the Polisseni Foundation and a partner in the law firm, Culley, Marks, Tanenbaum & Pezzulo, LLP.
“The Polisseni Family has always thought the world of Dr. Constantino,” added Pezzulo. “He has given so much to the community; the new Access Center is a fitting tribute to a man who always puts his patients first and shows an enormous amount of compassion.”
The Constantino Patient Access Center will be located between the B. Thomas Golisano Pavilion and Emergency Center and the Polisseni Pavilion, dedicated in 2005 and named for the late Eugene Polisseni, Paychex executive, who passed away in 2001. The Polisseni Pavilion was made possible with a $5 million gift from Wanda Polisseni and her children, Gary Polisseni, Valerie Wilcox and Greg Polisseni.
The Center will centralize registration, admission counseling and pre-admission testing in one convenient place for patients and will be easily accessible through enclosed lobbies from the Portland Avenue Garage.
James Digan, Senor Vice President for Development for Rochester General Health System, said ”We are extremely grateful to the Polisseni Foundation for its steadfast generosity and dedication to the needs of Rochester General. In making this gift in honor of Dr. Constantino, the Foundation is helping to advance an essential part of our mission, which is to make the process of accessing care easier and more convenient. That makes such a difference in one’s care and comfort. Our ability to make this new Center a reality would not be possible without the kindness of the Polisseni Foundation.”
Dr. Constantino began his practice at Rochester General shortly after receiving his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He was appointed Chief of Ambulatory Services in 1981, Senior Vice President of Rochester General in 1991, and President in 1997, the first physician to hold that post in 40 years.
