Debbie Stamps Appointed Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital

Debbie Stamps, MS, RN, GNP, NE, BC, was appointed Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, effective June 1st. She served in an interim capacity since August 2009.
As Chief Nursing Officer, she will be responsible for managing key Newark-Wayne Community Hospital clinical units and will also be responsible for ensuring system integration of nursing leadership, clinical initiatives and high standards of quality care and service.
She has been part of the Rochester General Health System in various clinical leadership roles since 1989. Her professional background includes emergency care, women’s care, obstetrics and neonatal, progressive care nursing and radiology nursing.
Her involvement in the community is also impressive, having recently been awarded the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, 2010 Sojourner Truth Award. This award is the highest recognition this organization bestows and is a national distinction for her many community activities. She was also a finalist in this year’s American Heart Association Women of Distinction Award.
Deb Stamps serves on the board of the Rochester-Syracuse Planned Parenthood, is a member of the New York State Organization of Nurse Executives, the American Nurses Association, Chi Eta Phi Sorority and many other professional organizations. In addition, she has been published in the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Procedure Manual, in the Medsurg Nursing Journal and in the Critical Care Journal. She is currently conducting a national research study as part of her dissertation program.
She earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurses from the Educational Opportunity Center, an Associate’s Degree from Monroe Community College, a Baccalaureate Degree from SUNY Brockport, a Master’s Degree from Nazareth College, completed the Nurse Leaders of the Future program at the Wharton School, and anticipates completing her Doctorate in Education Degree from St. John Fisher College this summer.
