Hospitals in New York reduce errors, 'report card' says

Statewide mortality rates have improved by an average of more than 40 percent and the number of hospitals doing procedures below the recommended volume has decreased 24 percent since 2002, according to the Niagara Health Quality Coalition's 2010 Hospital Report Card.

Hospitals showed improvement in eight out of 10 measures of hospital error rates measured by the nonprofit coalition, such as errors involving surgical opening of the skull and hip replacement, the coalition found. Learn more...
