Rochester General and Newark-Wayne Hospitals Enact Further Restrictions on Young Visitors
(10/29/09)
Action is being taken to protect patients and staff as H1N1 virus spreads among area youth
Leaders at Rochester General and Newark-Wayne Community Hospitals, affiliates of Rochester General Health System, today announced additional visitor restrictions (beginning at 8:00 PM tonight) that prohibit visitors under the age of 18, as well as those who are ill, from any in-patient areas of the hospital. The restrictions have been put in place to protect potentially vulnerable patients and infants from the spread of the H1N1 virus, which is rapidly increasing in the greater Rochester area, most prevalently among the younger population.
Rochester General and Newark-Wayne physicians and staff will continue to monitor the situation - in collaboration with officials from other area hospitals - and will re-evaluate visitor policies on an ongoing basis.
