Dr. Lori Medeiros Appointed Medical Director of the Rochester General Hospital Breast Center
Dr. Lori Medeiros has been appointed the Medical Director of the Rochester General Hospital Breast Center. The announcement was made by Ralph J. Doerr MD, Chief of Surgery at Rochester General Hospital.
Dr. Medeiros joined the Department of Surgery at RGH in August of 2008. She completed her Medical School and General Surgical Residency at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. Following that she was in private practice in Quebec and then most recently in Connecticut. Since 2005, Dr. Medeiros has had an increasingly devoted breast practice. She is a current participant in the National Mastery of Breast Surgery Quality Assurance Program.
Dr. Medeiros will lead an effort to obtain accreditation for the new Rochester General Hospital Breast Center from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program developed in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons. This stringent evaluation process involves review of performance on 17 required components and compliance with 27 standards. Having an Accredited Breast Center in Rochester will improve the quality of breast care for patients and augment educational opportunities for staff and interested surgeons in the region.
