The National Kidney Foundation Has Awarded the "RGH Dashing Dialyzers" the First Ever "Kidney Kup"

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) has awarded the "RGH Dashing Dialyzers" the first ever "Kidney Kup" for their hard work and dedication to the 2009 Rochester Kidney Walk.

This year the NKF wanted to increase the involvement of our Dialysis Units in our special events. While the doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals work tirelessly to provide services to our patients, we wanted to bring everyone together for a fun-filled day at the Seneca Park Zoo, to celebrate those we fight for and those we remember. And this year Rochester General Hospital employees truly stepped up to the plate. The "RGH Dashing Dialyzers" raised an astonishing $4,156.33 and had over 60 team members participate.

The National Kidney Foundation truly appreciates the hard work of team captain, Patricia Bergeson, and the rest of the RGH team for helping it reach its goal and allowing the Foundation to continue achieving its mission.

The Rochester Kidney Walk was held at Seneca Park Zoo on Saturday, September 26, 2009 and had over 700 walkers present. The money raised from this record-breaking event (over $95,000) will help the National Kidney Foundation serving Upstate New York provide the following services:

  • Free Kidney Check-ups
  • "How to Keep Your Kidneys Going Strong" Classes
  • Kidney Kinship Patient Support Programs
  • Education to Physicians, Nurses and Medical Providers
  • Organ Donor Awareness and Kidney Transplant Options
