First Baby 2009 Born at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital
The first baby of 2009 born at the Birthing and Womenﾒs Care Unit at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital was Taylor Lee Smith, the daughter of Tiffany and Josh Smith of North Rose. Taylor was delivered on January 2nd at 3:24 a.m. by Dr. A. Somaskanda. She weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 inches long at birth. She is also welcomed by an older brother, Austin, who is three.
Taylor and her parents were presented with a large stocking filled with baby items and a gift basket for the first baby of the year from the nurses at the Birthing Center, the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteers, and the Hospital.
