'Grease Paint Alley Clowns' and Much More at 'Clyde Mother's & Children's Health Fair' on Saturday, September 12th

The “Grease Paint Alley Clowns, Inc.” will entertain and create balloon animals for children, while more than 60 other local businesses and organizations will give out everything from information to children’s bicycle helmets at the “Clyde Mother’s & Children’s Health Fair” on Saturday, September 12th. The FREE Health Fair, which will be held in the village park (at the intersection of Routes 31 and 414) from 10:00 am  - 1:00 pm, will give families a fun opportunity to learn about healthy lifestyle choices and services available in Wayne County. It is co-sponsored by the Wayne County Rural Health Network and by the Village of Clyde.

“This year we will also sponsor several contests so that the kids and their parents can actively participate and have even more fun,” said Suzi Castellano, coordinator of the health fair and administrative assistant for Wayne County Rural Health Network, a Newark-Wayne Community Hospital sponsored program. “We are becoming more aware of the importance of exercise, proper nutrition and regular monitoring by health professionals to prevent health problems. Everyone involved in the health fair is here to help families learn easy, inexpensive ways to be healthier and also to help individuals who don’t have the resources for regular medical care to make the connections for no cost or low-cost care.”

Some activities will include: coloring, hula-hoop and jump rope contests; a kazoo concert; a teddy bear clinic; a bike rodeo by the Clyde Police Department; visits by the Wayne County Canine Unit and the Wayne County Dairy Princess and her court; healthy snacks from Wegmans and Cornell Cooperative Extension; give-aways and more. In addition, the Clyde Rotary has donated six bicycles for the coloring contest prizes.

The “Grease Paint Alley Clowns” troop from Rochester, N.Y. has brought smiles and laughter to children and adults living the Rochester region since 1979. Members of this troop of clowns regularly provide free entertainment at local festivals and health fairs.

Agencies participating in the Clyde Children’s Health Fair include: Wayne County Public Health, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, DeMay Living Center, Sodus Community Health Center and other Wayne County agencies and providers.

Sponsors include: Wayne County Rural Health Network with funding for this event from the Rochester Area Community Foundation; the Village of Clyde; Clyde Rotary; Clyde Lyons Club; Fidelis Health Care; Wegmans; and Cornell Cooperative Extension.
