Admissions
The Admissions cycle begins in September for the following year. The Program likes to receive all applications by November 1st because some admissions decisions are beginning to be made by late Fall. Applications will, however, continue to be accepted however candidates should be aware that the bulk of admissions is concluded by shortly after New Year’s.
New York State has licensure laws in place for Medical Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists. The Program accepts students who are in 3+1 programs (completed 3 years of study at their home college of university) as well as those who already hold the BS degree (4+1) until the class of August 2013.
As of 2013, all students must be matriculated at a college or university in order to attend the clinical internship year at Rochester General Hospital under the new licensure law.
Candidates are urged to contact the NYS Department of Education, Office of Professions at 1-518-474-3817 or www.op.nysed.gov should specific questions arise.
The Program considers candidates from affiliated college and universities and non-affiliated college and universities on an equal footing. Usually 12-18 students are accepted for each internship year. Drawing students from a wide variety of sources creates an exciting, team-oriented atmosphere among class members.
At the conclusion of the Program all students are eligible to sit for a national certification examination which is also the NYS License Exam. Our students have historically done extremely well on comprehensive challenge examination.
Required Course Work
To be considered for admission, the student must have completed the following requirements. The NYS Department of Education is also finalizing coursework deemed mandatory for those seeking a state license:

Transcripts
