Resident Life

Residents at OrientationBeing a resident at Rochester General hospital is a unique and professionally fulfilling endeavor.  The staff and faculty are extremely supportive in all matters from finding a place to live to ensuring the highest quality of resident education.  The hospital provides a complete benefit package and a very competitive salary so while busy, fininancial and security issues are not a matter of concern for residents.

The residents themselves function as a family.  People come from all around the world to train here. The cultural diversity makes residency all the more interesting. Residents Go KayakingWhen training here is complete, graduates go on to a wide variety of positions including NIH fellowships, subspecialty training, and private general internal medicine practice. They find placement all around the country and are extremely well received.  Beyond the daily curriculum, the program holds a number of special events which enhance the learning process and also provide forums for residents to influence the style and direction of their education.

Finally, living in Rochester is a wonderful experience.  There are ample opportunities to enjoy the Arts from the Geva Theatre to the the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Eastman School of Music. Professional sporting events are abundant, and the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors is only limited by one's free time and interests.

Come to Rochester General Hospital , and experience for yourself the great sense of concern and togetherness that a dedicated faculty, program, staff, and hospital  can provide.
