Medical education has been, and continues to be, a proud part of Rochester General Hospital's history. The hospital supports independent residency programs in:

Closely affiliated with the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, residents from the University programs in Pediatrics and Surgery rotate to Rochester General Hospital as well as third and fourth year medical students. Important research is conducted in our laboratories. Rochester General Hospital is an institution firmly committed to the discovery of medical knowledge and the development of tomorrow's providers.

Rochester General Hospital Residency ProgramsOur educational facilities include the $1.3 million J. Raymond Hinshaw, M.D. Medical Education Center. Its 220-seat auditorium and two smaller conference rooms are equipped with a computerized audiovisual system -- designed specifically for medical applications -- whose capabilities are unmatched in the region. Rochester General's Surgical Skills Laboratory is the site where hundreds of physicians from throughout the world have gained proficiency in the use of emerging technologies including surgical lasers, laparoscopy and pelviscopy. Our nationally recognized Lillie B. Werner Health Sciences Library is a premier resource for medical information, with a collection of 420 medical journals and access to more than 100 online databases.

Rochester General Hospital also serves as a clinical training center for students in more than 20 health care fields, including nursing, physical therapy, social work, biomedical engineering, and nuclear medicine. In addition, the Hospital is a successful site for nurse midwifery education and for the training of physician assistants in obstetrics and gynecology.

Advanced Cardiac Pathophysiology
OPEN TO RNs AND LPNs. Provides the nurse with information necessary to care for patients with complex problems related to cardiac pathology.
