Rochester General Health System and Unity Health System To Pursue Formal Partnership
April 29, 2013
Rochester General Health System and Unity Health System today announced that they have mutually agreed to pursue a formal partnership that has the potential to create an integrated health care delivery system designed to improve quality and lower the cost of health care for the residents of the Greater Rochester and Western NY area.
“Health care is undergoing profound change, with sweeping and unprecedented reforms that are challenging providers to serve a wider range of patients with higher quality, lower cost and greater value. Partnerships like the one we are announcing today will enable our two systems to meet this demand,” said Mark Clement, president and chief executive officer, Rochester General Health System. “We are excited to partner with Unity Health System to develop a model health care delivery system of the future that will serve the long-term needs of the community.
In pursuit of a formal partnership, RGHS and Unity will work closely together in the coming months to develop and finalize plans, which could then take up to two years to gain government approvals. Additional information will be provided when the formal exploratory discussions are completed.
