Message from the Program Director

Welcome to the Rochester General Hospital Radiology Residency Program!

Our radiology residency offers the unique opportunity to experience all facets of radiology.  The core program revolves around a busy 528-bed tertiary academic hospital exposing our residents to subspecialized services and functioning as an integral part of the patient’s care team.  Our residents are incorporated into all aspects of the Department—consulting, researching, and serving as voting members of departmental committees.  The residency also includes outpatient-based imaging which gives the perspective of a busy private practice and experiencing the spectrum of modalities and specialties during a typical day.  Your education at RGH will afford the ability to enter any fellowship or practice as a productive member of the team.

The Residency program has been training radiologists for over 50 years.  In that time, we have placed our residents into prestigious institutions throughout the world for fellowships and as attendings. Several current and formal staff have returned to practice at RGH—a testament to the caliber of our residents and desire to become part of a well-respected practice.  Simply put, we are radiologists who train radiologists.  Our program is a balanced dichotomy between a fast-paced private practice and a methodical academic program.  Education is always at the forefront with a dedicated Core Curriculum and real-world viewbox teaching offering the best of both worlds.

Finally, our small size offers the one-on-one teaching and training not afforded by other places.  The residents and radiologists form a unique family and partnership of camaraderie and respect, functioning together to provide the best patient care and residency experience.  RGH is truly a one-of-a-kind institution.
