New Leader Named for OB/GYN Services
In October, Eugene P. Toy, MD, joined RGHS as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Toy, who pioneered the use of robotics in gynecologic oncology surgery at Rochester General Hospital, has practiced in the Rochester area for the past 11 years. In addition to his clinical and administrative duties, he is an active researcher in scientific studies of cancer-causing proteins of the human papillomavirus.
Dr. Toy received his Medical Doctorate from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Yale University School of Medicine, and is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and in Gynecologic Oncology.
“After an exhaustive search, we were delighted to find our new Chief of OB/GYN Services already within the Rochester General community,” said Robert Mayo, MD, RGHS Chief Medical Officer. “Dr. Toy’s exceptional clinical and administrative skills are matched by an intuitive patient-focused sensibility, and he shares our affinity for a multidisciplinary approach to care that distinguishes our health system in this region. We are extremely fortunate to have him rejoin RGHS in this permanent and important role.”
RGHS is a national and regional leader in robotic surgical procedures.
