RGHS Recognized for Excellence in Cardiac Care and Robotic Surgery
Rochester General Health System, frequently recognized for regional and national excellence in a variety of clinical specialties, has earned additional honors in Cardiac and Gynecologic care.
In late 2012 Rochester General Hospital, the flagship RGHS affiliate, was designated by the AAGL and Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as an AAGL Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology™ (COEMIG™). More recently, in early 2013 CareChex®, a division of The Delta Group, named the RGH Sands-Constellation Heart Institute #1 in New York State and #4 nationwide for Major Cardiac Surgery; #1 in the state for Heart Attack Treatment; and #2 among New York hospitals for Overall Medical Care and Overall Hospital Care.
This is the third consecutive year in which SCHI has led the state according to CareChex, whose annual study recognizes high-performing hospitals based on cumulative performance across the most recent three years of public data. CareChex incorporates peer-reviewed methodologies that address inpatient care quality criteria including mortality and complication rates, patient satisfaction reports and patient safety indicators.
The COEMIG program was developed as a quality improvement initiative by the AAGL, the leading association promoting minimally invasive gynecologic techniques among surgeons worldwide, and SRC. Their methodology required documented evidence of all aspects of the minimally invasive gynecology program and processes, including data on its surgical outcomes.
“Objective measurements like these help patients, employers and insurers gain a clearer picture of the quality and value of health care services in their communities. That transparency is vital in this new era of health care reform,” said Mark C. Clement, President and CEO of Rochester General Health System. “These latest recognitions offer terrific validation of the talent and hard work of our Rochester General team members – and their tireless dedication to our growing community of patients.”
Rochester General Health System and its affiliates are frequently recognized by national organizations for clinical excellence, quality and value. In addition to the these recent honors, RGH has been named a Breast Center of Excellence by the National Consortium of Breast Centers, Inc.; and a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.
