Palliative Care Services at RGHS
Patients living with serious illnesses – chronic or short-term, curable or life-threatening – can face symptoms and issues as challenging as the illness itself: debilitating pain, side effects of necessary medical treatments, the natural anxieties and fears about their future, and the effects of their illness on their families and loved ones.
The RGHS Palliative Care team is dedicated to maximizing the quality of patients’ day-to-day lives while they cope with any stage of a serious illness. Provided along with curative treatments, inpatient Palliative Care services at RGHS include:
- Effective management of pain, shortness of breath, nausea, anxiety, constipation, depression and fatigue
- Helping to arrange essential services to maximize comfort during and after a hospital stay
- Answering questions and providing counsel, assistance and support
Medicare and most insurance carriers cover palliative care consultations, making them a logical and supportive addition to many curative medical plans for patients with a serious illness.
