Sports Medicine Specialist Joins RGHS Team
With the addition of Chris Brown, MD, to the team of experienced Orthopaedic specialists affiliated with RGHS, patients in western and central New York have a nationally recognized sports medicine specialist in their own “back yard.”
Dr. Brown joined Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and Finger Lakes Bone and Joint in 2012, in a partnership with orthopaedic surgeon Dan Alexander, MD. His educational background includes such well-respected institutions as Duke University Medical Center and Stanford University; while at Stanford, he supplemented his Sports Medicine Fellowship training with time on the field, as a team physician for the NFL San Francisco 49ers and NCAA Division I Stanford Cardinals.
As a member of NWCH’s team, Dr. Brown specializes in the treatment of advanced knee and shoulder injuries, including ACL or PCL reconstruction, cartilage replacement, and such arthroscopic procedures as rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization. These cases are frequently associated with sports and athletics, but can occur in a variety of scenarios. Regardless of their origin, these injuries can significantly impede an active lifestyle – but by assessing each patient’s goals and working closely with each case before, during and after surgery, Dr. Brown helps patients quickly return to their personal best.
