Who We Are

The Isabella Graham Hart School of Practical Nursing (IGH) was founded in 1964 as a one year practical nursing program, associated with Rochester General Hospital, the flagship of Rochester Regional Health System. The school is named in honor of an outstanding benefactress of the hospital.

IGH was housed within the original Westside Division of Rochester City Hospital and moved to the Northside Division of the Rochester City Hospital in 1966. The school moved to a new facility in March 2011 at the Riedman Campus, 100 Kings Highway South, Rochester, NY 14617.

Technical Standards for Admission, Academic Progression and Graduation

The goal of IGH is to prepare every student to think critically, and practice nursing competently and compassionately in rapidly changing practice environments. All efforts are designed to build nursing knowledge, enhance nursing practice and patient safety, foster professional integrity, and ultimately improve the health outcomes of patients, families, and communities across the continuum of care. In addition, certain functional abilities are essential for the delivery of safe, effective nursing care during clinical training activities. Therefore, the faculty has determined that certain technical standards are requisite for admission, progression, and graduation from the nursing programs.
