- We are continuing to see cases of Influenza A both in admitted patients as well as outpatients. Please continue to maintain a high level of awareness and test patients for influenza who are admitted with fever and respiratory illness (cough, sore throat and runny nose; pneumonia or ARDS)or those who develop such symptoms while in the hospital
- influenza antiviral drugs should be used to to treat severe influenza illness (including those who are hospitalized or are considered at high risk of serious influenza-related complications ).

The new CDC treatment guidelines just came out and recommend treating only hospitalized cases (suspected, probable and confirmed) and cases at high risk of complications.
