Dr. Michalko's clinical practice includes all aspects of hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, as well as peripheral nerve surgery and microsurgery. He has special expertise in surgical treatment of pediatric hand conditions, reconstructive surgery for arthritic and traumatic disorders of the hand and wrist, and upper extremity nerve disorders.
Dr. Michalko earned his medical degree and completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at URMC. He also completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Wisconsin and a fellowship in Hand Surgery at Brown University. Dr. Michalko is board-certified in both orthopaedic surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has authored medical journal articles on such topics as reattachment of severed fingers and reconstruction of children's hands. Dr. Michalko is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery at the University of Rochester.
