Prevention and Screening
Increasing your Odds.
Proper cancer screening is an essential part of preventive care and especially important when it comes to early detection of cancer. According to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts & Figures, in 2012, an estimated 3% to 35% of the premature deaths due to cancer in the U.S. could have been avoided through screening. Finding cancer in its early stages—before a tumor or other cancerous symptom develops—allows you to receive the most effective treatment for the best possible outcome.
The Surgical Oncology Center offers cancer screenings for colon cancer, skin cancer, cervical cancer and other types of cancer, as well as cancer risk assessment and counseling through the Lipson Cancer Center. We also collaborate with the Rochester General Breast Center to offer a High Risk Breast Screening Clinic for patients with a strong family history of breast cancer.
If you would like to arrange a non-urgent screening appointment with one of our oncology surgeons, please contact us at any time.
