Supported by a highly skilled team of hand therapists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, our board-certified surgeons and physicians are experts in hand and plastic surgery and are dedicated to providing the highest level of care for our patients, their families and our referring physicians—from preoperative care through postoperative recovery and beyond.

Dr. Timothy O'Connor - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalTimothy P. O'Connor, MD, FACS
Chief of Plastic Surgery, Director of RGHS Hand Center

Timothy P. O'Connor is Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Rochester General Health System. He earned his medical degree at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He completed a general surgical residency and plastic surgery residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He received additional training in head and neck surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Center. He is board certified in general surgery, plastic surgery and hand surgery, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

 

Dr. Mark Davenport - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalMark S. Davenport, MD

Mark S. Davenport received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Subsequently, he completed a general surgical residency and a plastic surgical fellowship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Davenport is board certified in general surgery and plastic surgery, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Davenport has been performing plastic and hand surgery in Rochester since 1992.

  

Dr. Jeffrey Fink - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalJeffrey A. Fink, MD

Jeffrey A. Fink graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Rochester, a plastic surgery residency at Yale University, and an orthopedic hand fellowship at Brown University. Dr. Fink is board certified in hand surgery and plastic surgery and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Fink specializes in surgery of the hand and upper extremities. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and is Director of the Rochester Hand Center.

 

Dr. Ralph Pennino - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalRalph P. Pennino, MD, FACS

Ralph P. Pennino is the Chief of Surgery at Rochester General Health System. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School. He subsequently completed a general surgery residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He did his plastic surgical residency and an orthopedic hand fellowship at the University of New Mexico. He is board certified in hand surgery, plastic surgery and laser surgery and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Dr. Christopher Richardson - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalChristopher Richardson, MD

Dr. Richardson earned his medical degree at New York Institute of Technology. He completed his residency training at St. Barnabas hospital and a fellowship in Orthopaedic Hand Surgery at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center. He is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Richardson has a special interest and expertise in robotic surgery and hand surgery.

 

 

 

Dr. Andrew Smith - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General Hospital

Andrew W. Smith, MD, FACS

Andrew W. Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed the combined plastic surgery residency at the University of Rochester. He subsequently completed a fellowship in microsurgery and oncologic reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Smith is board certified in plastic surgery. He specializes in microsurgery, including reconstruction of complex wounds of the hand and upper extremity.

 

 

Dr. Karl Michalko - Hand Surgeon at Rochester General HospitalKarl B. Michalko, MD

Karl Michalko, MD specializes in Orthopaedic Surgery limited to the treatment of the upper extremity including the shoulder. Dr. Michalko attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and also completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency there. In addition, he completed a Residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Wisconsin and a Hand Fellowship at Brown University / Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Michalko is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a resident of the Town of Pittsford.
