Prevention & Screening
General surgery includes several areas of the body and a broad spectrum of diseases. Our surgeons and staff are here to help you improve your overall health and stay healthy.
There are a number ways to improve your general health—exercise, a balanced diet, reducing your stress—and the choices you make every day will go a long way toward improving your health and staying healthy in the future.
Another way to help yourself remain healthy is by knowing your personal measurements for good health. Keeping track of your normal blood pressure, weight, etc. will give you a baseline to measure against and help you recognize any unexplained changes or symptoms, such as shortness of breath, changes in bowel habits or unexplained weight loss which may be a sign of something more serious.
In addition to knowing and keeping track of your personal baseline for good health, it’s also important to have regular screenings such as a mammogram or colonoscopy. They’re an essential part of preventive care and often lead to early detection which is key to a successful outcome.
