What does it mean to be a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence?
The Rochester General Mammography Department, as a part of the Rochester General Breast Center, is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR recognizes a breast imaging centers' dedication to improving women's health by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs and undergoing peer review. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
As an ACR-accredited center, you know:
- We have voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be sure our center meets nationally-accepted standards
- Our team is well qualified to perform and interpret your medical images and administer your radiation therapy treatments
- Our equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment you will receive, and our facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines
