Details for comfort, convenience and safety were considered when DeMay Living Center was designed. Residents may choose to sit in the screened-in gazebo for a cup of coffee, walk outside in the courtyard to sit in the sun or putter in the garden.
Others may want to watch TV in one of the many lounge areas. Residents can always rely on the availability of care and support.
The DeMay Living Center, offers comprehensive services for the older adult who can no longer live independently. We provide a 180-bed skilled nursing facility offering 24-hour nursing care, ventilator-dependent care, and specialized care for individuals in the early and mid-stages of Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders of aging. DeMay Living Center operates Moore Place, one of only a few neurobehavioral interventional care units in New York State. We concentrate on what our residents can do, not their limitations. Every detail of the facility is designed for comfort, convenience and safety for our residents.
The Demay Living Center is connected directly to the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. This provides immediate access to emergency and acute care without leaving the building. The facility offers residents a beautiful view of the hills, fields and farmlands that will allow them to enjoy each and every season of the year.
We also provide opportunities for the residents who can participate, to go on outings such as trips to the Red Wings game, shopping and more.
Types of Care
We provide Alzheimer’s Disease Care, Medical Care, Professional Nursing, Rehabilitation, Sub-Acute Care and Therapeutic Recreation. The DeMay Living Center has large private and semi-private rooms with a window for each bed to enjoy the countryside view. All rooms are painted in warm, soft colors and each quadrant has a living room and activity area for relaxing or visiting with family and friends.
Short-term Respite Program
If you are caring for a chronically ill or elderly family member at home, the DeMay Living Center offers the Short Term Respite Program designed to give families temporary relief.
The main dining room offers a pleasant eating environment and provides meal choices that take into account the nutritional needs of each resident. Arrangements can be made for those who wish to eat in their rooms. We also offer a beauty parlor/barber shop, library, chapel and sewing room, among other areas designed to make the facility as homelike as possible.
Computerized Resident Profiles
The Hospital’s pharmacists maintain a computerized resident drug profile which enables us to continually watch for possible drug interaction, allergies and other potential problems.
