DeMay Living Center - Skilled Nursing Facility
Assisted Living Care That Nurtures the Body, Mind and Spirit
DeMay Living Center provides 24-hour skilled nursing senior care to those in need of:
DeMay Living Center operates Moore Place, one of only a few neurobehavioral interventional care units in New York State.
Our goal is to create a warm, comfortable place where our residents - whether they're here for short-term treatment or long-term elderly care - can maximize their independence and potential.
A Place Designed for Living
Can a skilled nursing residence be both calming and stimulating? Absolutely - and that's what we strive to achieve at the DeMay Living Center. Our 180-bed building, surrounded by uplifting views of hills, fields and farmlands, is warm and aesthetically pleasing. The grounds offer serene spaces to sit or stroll. Yet, our many common areas and family-friendly atmosphere encourage residents to socialize, pursue hobbies and take part in some of our many planned activities.
Of course, DeMay Living Center was built with safety and convenience as a priority. And, because it's connected directly to the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital residents benefit from immediate access to acute care if needed.
Promoting Choice, Opportunity and a Life with Meaning
We concentrate on what our residents can do. We encourage them to be self-reliant in whatever way they can, to get involved in activities and outings, and to stay as connected as possible to their community, family and friends. Many of our residents discover that even as they face the negatives of aging or disability, they can still find opportunities for growth and personal fulfillment and live purposeful lives each and every day.
A Culture of Competency, Quality and Compassion
DeMay Living Center residents are attended to by the physician who knows them best - their own primary care provider. They are supported by an extraordinarily talented staff of nurses and ancillary specialists such as registered dieticians, physical therapists and recreational therapists. All medical care is overseen by the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Medical Director.
Quality initiatives at DeMay cover all aspects of care - from our pharmacy's computerized resident drug profile (to help us avoid complications of possible drug interaction or allergies) to resident satisfaction surveys. Residents have placed DeMay with the top skilled nursing facilities in the nation for overall satisfaction.
Perhaps above all, DeMay is set up to foster relationships between caregivers and residents. That's how kindness and compassion grows and true caring happens.
