Sandra A. Hellmann, MD, FAAP
“I often refer to my patients as my kids. I enjoy seeing them becoming their own person and, later on, starting to make their own decisions.”
Dr. Hellmann joined the Wayne Medical Group in July 1995. She began practicing in the Sodus office and moved to the Williamson office five years later. She earned her medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, and subsequently completed the pediatric residency program at Columbus Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio before returning to her western New York roots.
Outside the office, she enjoys spending with her children, reading, knitting, swimming, and working in her gardens.
Annamaria Kontor, MD, FAAP
“I love witnessing the young human body’s and mind’s amazing ability to heal, the pure joy of interacting with kids of all ages and backgrounds.”
Dr. Kontor appreciates being able to follow her patients through the most exciting period of their lives – from birth to young adulthood – so that she can help prevent chronic diseases instead of merely treating and controlling them.
Before joining the Wayne Medical Group in 2003, Dr. Kontor earned her Medical Doctorate in 1993, graduating summa cum laude from Semmelweis University School of Medicine in Budapest. Her broad health care experience includes working as a midwife and a medic during medical school and as an ambulance physician prior to immigrating to the U.S. in 1994. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and since has worked as a board-certified primary care pediatrician.
Dr. Kontor’s special interests include adolescent medicine and skin disorders (and perfecting her medical Spanish skills). She is on the ski patrol at Brantling Ski Slopes, and enjoys spending time with her husband, also a physician, and three children.
Jan Walker, MD, FAAP
“I love playing with the children and watching them discover the world.”
In high school, Dr. Walker discovered she liked people as much as science, and decided that using science to care for people would bring her more joy than advancing the field.
Dr. Walker joined the Wayne Medical Group for the first time in 1992, where she practiced at the Wolcott office for eight years before beginning subspecialty training in Development Pediatrics at the Kirch Developmental Services Center at the University of Rochester. She was a member of the Unity Pediatric Development Unit, involved in subspecialty developmental behavioral practice, until returning to the Wayne Medical Group in 2006. Her special interests include learning and behavior problems.
Dr. Walker attended medical school at the University of Michigan. She completed a flexible internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. She swims to stay fit, and enjoys spending time with her husband, adult sons and extended family.
