Susan Areeckal, MD
Although Dr. Areeckal is new to this area, she enjoys becoming involved in the communities where she lives, and looks forward to getting to know the Rochester area. While completing her residency in Kansas City, Kansas she often volunteered at community immunization / back-to-school clinics, as well as providing biannual sports physicals for high school athletes.
Dr. Areeckal has a keen interest in palliative care, and how it can complement curative, disease-directed medicine to improve the quality of life of both patients and their families. In addition to English, Dr. Areeckal speaks and understands basic medical and conversational Spanish and Malayalam, a South Indian dialect from Kerala. Her hobbies include cooking, trying new foods, reading, writing, carpentry, sewing, and playing the piano.
Rachel Yankey, MD
Dr. Yankey finds one of the most rewarding aspects of medicine to be getting to know and treating several members of the same family, at their various stages of life. She believes that her role is not simply to tell her patients what to do, but to listen closely to their concerns, to provide education, and to work together on solutions.
In her free time Dr. Yankey loves to spend time with her husband and three young children, as well as cooking, goofing off, reading, making time for personal fitness and missions work.
