Occupational Therapy & Hand Therapy

Linden Oaks Rehab Clinic

Not all therapy clinics have specialists in hand problems or the right equipment to treat them, but we do.  Our friendly staff strives to tailor your program to meet your individual needs.

We specialize in the problems that impact the use of your hands including:

  • Arthritis
  • Tendinitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Hand / Wrist/ Elbow Fractures
  • Nerve injuries
  • Tendon lacerations
  • Amputations
  • Dislocations
  • Shoulder disorders
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis

Our program is staffed by licensed occupational therapists and certified hand therapists* that are trained to assess all the components that contribute to our ability to function in everyday life that can be disrupted through injury or illness. These include such things as the:

  • Flexibility to peel a potato
  • Ability to feel the buttons on your shirt
  • Grip strength to open a jar and swing a hammer
  • Coordination to sign your name
  • Freedom from pain to use your computer

These are just a few of the thousand things we need to be able to do each day. Rehabilitation programs are individually designed to correct impairments and return you to independence in everyday life.  Based on a comprehensive evaluation at the time of your initial visit, your treatment program may include:

  • Patient education related to diagnosis and expected rehabilitation course
  • Custom designed and fabricated orthosis to provide rest, protection during healing, and/or promote motion
  • Exercise programs to restore movement, endurance and strength
  • Dexterity training
  • Edema control
  • Scar modification
  • Activity modification and joint protection techniques
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Sensory re-education and desensitization training

*Experienced therapists with advanced training in the problems of the upper extremity who have passed a national examination are called Certified Hand Therapists.
