The Department of Pediatrics at Rochester General Hospital provides a broad range of diagnostic and treatment services for children from birth through 21 years of age. Much of the clinical and research activities of the department center on community pediatrics. General outpatient pediatric care is offered at Rochester General Hospital through Rochester General Pediatric Associates.
Subspecialty services within the department include Adolescent Medicine, Behavioral Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases, Lead Poisoning Prevention and Treatment, Neonatology, Neurology and Pediatric Rheumatology. The department is fully integrated with the Golisano Children's Hospital at URMC.
Rochester General's Department of Pediatrics has received grant support exceeding $7 million for projects involving:
- Childhood lead poisoning
- Breastfeeding promotion
- Environmental health
- AIDS prevention activities
- Health systems reorganization for disadvantaged children
- Training of academic general pediatricians
