The Finger Lakes Bone & Joint Center, located on the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital campus, is a premier orthopaedic care facility specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Our board-certified orthopaedic surgeons offer the latest medical technologies and evaluations, including digital x-ray technology - the most advanced x-ray system in the Finger Lakes region. We provide comprehensive, patient-centered orthopaedic care, including medical orthopaedic evaluation and treatment of sports injuries, painful joints, degenerative arthritis, broken and fractured bones, and neck & back injuries.We are the first practice in the Finger Lakes region to use computer-assisted total joint replacement surgery for hip and knee replacements.

Meet Our Team

alexanderDr. Daniel Alexander

Born and raised in Buffalo, a former lieutenant in the Buffalo Fire Department, Dr. Alexander received his medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo.  His orthopedic training was completed at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. During his orthopedic training Dr. Alexander specialized in orthopedic sports surgery including arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, hip and ankle; also rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, joint replacement and orthopedic trauma. He has continued to specialize in these areas in the Finger Lakes region. He is providing both emergency care and elective surgery at these centers. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee and ankle as well as total joint replacements. He also takes care of many work related injuries including carpal tunnel surgery. Dr. Alexander would be happy to assist you with your orthopedic needs. Dr. Alexander and family reside locally.

Chris_Brown_MDDr. Christopher Brown

A specialist in sports medicine focusing on the shoulder and knee, Dr. Brown has had the opportunity to work at a variety of world class institutions while providing care for athletes both on and off the field. Dr. Brown completed his orthopedic residency at the top ranked Duke University Medical Center. Here he received training in all areas of orthopedics while participating in team physician coverage for two local high schools, North Carolina Central University and Duke University.

Dr. Brown elected to pursue subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and was selected to attend the world-renowned Stanford University Fellowship Program in California. For one year, he trained with orthopaedic surgeons in the treatment of complex knee and shoulder problems. During this time he worked with elite athletes as he provided team physician coverage for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49er’s as well as the NCAA Division I Stanford Cardinal’s. When not providing clinic care for his patients, Dr. Brown’s research work has been published in book chapters as well as research journals.

Dr. Brown returns to Western New York to practice sports medicine at the Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center. His interests include ACL or PCL reconstruction, cartilage replacement procedures, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization.

Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior or someone looking to stay active, Dr. Brown desires to know your goals and help you remain active, fit and competitive. He accomplishes this through personalized attention to each step of the healing process including education, decision making, non-operative care, surgical care, and the post-operative recovery process.

An avid outdoors man, Dr. Brown enjoys hunting, fishing and being outside. His wife is a native Western New Yorker and together they have two young children.

cynwinski_dDr. David Cywinski

Dr. Cywinski raised in Buffalo, NY has an interesting background which includes 14 years as Fayetteville, NY firefighter and a paramedical instructor at SUNY Health Science Center. His BA degree in Biology was obtained at SUNY College at Buffalo. He received his medical degree at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse in 2000. He then took a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital. He is board eligible in both. Dr. Cywinski has joined Finger Lakes Bone and joint Center, LLP to practice non surgical orthopedic medicine.  His interests are hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also was a National Rugby Player and will practice sports medicine.  He would be happy to take care of your orthopedic or sports problems and injuries. Dr. Cywinski lives locally with his family.

stasko_davidDr. Peter M Stasko
Fellowship Trained Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Dr. Stasko completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Brockport where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. Dr. Stasko’s professional/medical schooling was completed at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. His three year foot and ankle residency training was completed at the top ranked Western Pennsylvania Hospital Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency in Pittsburgh, PA where he served a chief resident. Dr. Stasko then completed a one year intensive foot and ankle fellowship at the Mon Valley Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Fellowship with The Orthopedic Group in Pittsburgh, PA. Here he focused on all aspects of foot and ankle surgery with advanced reconstruction, arthroscopic procedures, and trauma. Dr. Stasko has multiple publications in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and other publications as well as numerous research presentations and lectures focusing on his training in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery 

mattoon_sScott Matoon, RPAC

After graduating from Midlakes High School, Scott enlisted in the United States Army, where he functioned as a combat medic for over three years. After serving as a medical specialist in the 28th Combat Support Hospital, Scott was honorably discharged to further pursue his medical education.  He attended Oswego State University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology. Scott then completed his Masters of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies at the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona.  During his tenure at the Arizona School of Health Sciences, Scott completed rotations in OBGYN, general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, sports medicine, family practice and internal medicine. Scott is also certified in advanced cardiac life support, basic life support and nutrition counseling. Scott has been practicing as a Physicians Assistant in orthopedics for the last five years.

Springer Chris NPS. Chris Springer, NP

After graduating from Midlakes High School in 1980, Chris went straight into the work force. He was employed with Wegmans for eighteen years holding various positions including Assistant Store Manager. During his last few years of employment, he applied his awarded Wegmans Scholarship to attend Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC). While at FLCC, Chris earned degrees in Associated Liberal Arts and Associate of Applied Sciences in Nursing. While working as a Registered Professional Nurse in Canandaigua, Chris attended the University of Rochester School of Nursing, where he chose the accelerated program and combined the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (cum laude) and Master of Science in Nursing with completion of the program in three years. He spent his first seven years as a Nurse Practitioner at University Hospital in Syracuse in the cardio-thoracic intensive care unit and managed open heart and thoracic surgical patients. Chris joined the Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center in April of 2010.

Weser Suzanna_NPSuzanna E. Weser, FNP-BC

A 2004 graduate of Marion High School, was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare by her grandmother who had multiple health problems. Becoming a nurse is Suzanna’s way to give back for all the support and care that was provided to grandmother and her family.  She began her career in 2006 when she graduated Phi Theta Kappa from Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) with an Associate in Liberal Art and Sciences degree. In 2009, she enrolled in the Wegman School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College, where she graduated Sigma Theta Tau from with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. In addition to completing her graduate degree, she worked as a registered professional nurse, to gain experience in medical-surgical and emergency nursing and in 2011, she graduated from St. John Fisher College with a Master of Science in Advanced Practice Nursing degree. 

She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she is able to provide direct care to pediatric, geriatric, adult, obstetric and gynecological patients.  

Suzanna is an active member of The Nurse Practitioners Association New York State (NPA), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and American Nurses Association (ANA). She also has an avid interest in athletics, sparking her pursuit of a career in orthopedics.  Suzanna resides locally with her husband and family.
