James A. Tacci, MD, JD, MPH (FACOEM, FACPM)
Medical Director, Department of Occupational Medicine
Dr. James Tacci received his medical degree with distinction from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, where he currently holds a teaching appointment in the Department of Public Health Sciences. He earned his Master of Public Health degree from SUNY at Albany while completing his residency in General Preventive Medicine & Public Health at the New York State Department of Health. He completed a second residency in Occupational & Environmental Medicine at Harvard University. He received his law degree magna cum laude from Syracuse University. Dr. Tacci is board certified in both Occupational Medicine as well as General Preventive Medicine & Public Health.
Dr. Tacci currently serves as Vice-President of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, and has previously served on the governing boards of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Presently, Dr. Tacci serves on the Medical Advisory Committee of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board, he co-Chairs the Rochester Business Alliance's Workers' Compensation Committee, and he is a member of the Monroe County Board of Health.
Boris M. Shmigel, MD
Dr. Boris Shmigel earned his medical degree at Universitaet Heidelberg. He completed his surgical residency at Strong Memorial Hospital, and a subsequent surgical research fellowship at The Genesee Hospital. Dr. Shmigel has practiced Occupational Medicine at Rochester General for many years, focusing on the prevention and management of injuries and illness in the workplace. He is board certified in general surgery.
