Leading-edge treatment for patients with stroke, brain conditions, and other disorders.
The Rochester General Hospital Neurology Department provides inpatient and outpatient consultation services for patients with disorders of the brain as well as the central and peripheral nervous systems. RGH is a Primary Stroke Center designated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and similar certification has also been received from the New York State Department of Health.
Primary Stroke Center
The Rochester General Hospital Stroke Center provides comprehensive medical treatment for stroke and other related conditions. From immediate neurology treatment for people experiencing an acute stroke to specialized follow-up care for those coping with the after effects of stroke and related neurology conditions, our highly experienced teams are committed to providing exceptional care.
The Rochester General Stroke Center was the first center in Rochester to earn the Gold Seal of approval from the Joint Commission, and to be certified as a Primary Stroke Center. The effectiveness of our stroke program also led the New York State Department of Health to make RGH the first official state-designated stroke center in our region.
These recognitions are due in part to the unmatched experience of RGH stroke care providers: Since 2008, Rochester General has treated more Monroe County patients for stroke than any other hospital.
