State-of-the-art technology, the latest in surgical techniques and access to some of the leading surgeons in the Greater Rochester region, provide the residents of Wayne County with a wide variety of surgical procedures and services. And, the Telehealth Program provides convenient access to leading-edge treatments with specialty surgeons from Rochester General Hospital without the added travel for your pre- and post-surgical appointments.
Staff members and physicians at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital understand the apprehension many people have before surgery.
To put you and your family at ease, you will have an interview at the hospital beforehand, the opportunity to speak with a registered nurse in the pre-admission testing area and the chance to meet your anesthesiologist before your surgery. All of which should give you greater comfort and understanding of the procedures involved with your surgery. Additional information is available at: Anesthesia Associates of Rochester, P.C.
In our Ambulatory Surgery Unit, you can receive surgical intervention for; hernia, tonsils, nasal and facial fractures, radical keratotomics, cataracts, desired sterilizations, carpal tunnels, knee arthroscopies, ganglions and many other treatments that, with today’s medical advances, no longer require a hospital stay.
With the use of Fiberoptic scopes and TV monitors, our surgeons can look directly into joints and other parts of the body through tiny incisions to diagnose and/or surgically treat problems at the same time. All of which reduces hospital stays and shortens recovery periods for most patients. Within 24 hours of your discharge from Ambulatory Surgery, our nursing staff will call to make sure the outcome is what you expected, and to answer any question you may have since your were discharged. Here, you are cared for as if you were home with your family. In fact, your family members are encouraged to accompany you to the unit before your surgery, and wait there to take you home once the procedure and recovery is complete.
