ivRochester General offers a full range of dialysis treatement options to patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Our comprehensive services include outpatient in-center hemodialysis, home training and support for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis as well as inpatient dialysis at the hospital. The service is supported by a staff of board certified nephrologists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified dialysis technicians, social workers, dieticians and administrative personnel.

Outpatient (In-center) Hemodialysis Services

Seneca Ridge Dialysis Center - A 48-station outpatient facility for full–care hemodialysis patients is located three miles from Rochester General Hospital. Care is supported by clinical, social work and nutrition experts who specialize in the care of dialysis patients.

Bay Creek Dialysis Center - A 10,000-square-foot, 21-station outpatient facility for full-care hemodialysis patients is located at 2010 Empire Blvd (Webster, NY). Care is supported by clinical, social work and nutrition experts who specialize in the care of dialysis patients. This state-of-the-art facility provides convenient parking with surface-level entry and a comfortable, spacious treatment area with individual televisions for patients.

Home Dialysis Training and Support

Peritoneal dialysis is available at the Seneca Ridge location. Patients and/or their care supporters are educated by our team of professionals to enable them to perform dialysis therapy in their home using Baxter equipment and supplies.

Home Hemodialysis is also available at the Seneca Ridge location. Patients and their back-up support person are educated by our team of professionals to enable them to perform hemodialysis treatments at home. Learn more...

  • Peritoneal or hemodialysis for acute, potentially reversible renal failure
  • Dialysis treatment of chronic end-stage or irreversible renal failure
  • Liaison and referral for renal transplantation opportunities to patients with end-stage renal disease

Our Physicians

Dr. Paul BernsteinPaul Bernstein, MD

Dr. Bernstein is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at Yale University School of Medicine. His interests include treatment of hypertension and kidney disease in pregnant women, as well as management patients with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Bernstein is the Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Rochester General Hospital.
 

Dr. Jonathan BressJonathan Bress, MD

Dr. Bress is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he won the Renal Fellow Teaching Award. Dr. Bress was in private practice in the Philadelphia area for three years before joining Rochester General Hospital Medical Group. His interests include teaching and hypertension.

 

Dr. Sree ChennupatiSree Chennupati, MD

Dr. Chennupati is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She completed her fellowship in Nephrology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her interests include the use of evidence-based research in the treatment of patients with chronic kidney disease, problems relating to the control of potassium in the blood, and as management of the patient with chronic kidney disease.

 
 

Dr. Marvin GrieffMarvin Grieff, MD

Dr. Grieff is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at McGill University. His special interests include prevention of recurrent urinary tract stones, disorders of calcium metabolism, and management of patients with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Grieff is on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York. He is fluent in both English and French.



Dr. John HixJohn K. Hix, MD

Dr. Hix is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His special interests include determining the underlying cause of hypertension to define treatment, as well as management of patients with chronic kidney disease.





Dr. Robert MayoRobert Mayo, MD

Dr. Mayo is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. His interests include dialysis access, as well as management of patients with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Mayo is President and Senior Leader Patient Safety Officer of the Rochester General Hospital Medical & Dental Staff. In 2005, he received the Rochester General Hospital Father George Norton Physician Excellence Award, which honors physicians who dramatically touch the lives of patients and the community.


Dr. Stephen SilverStephen Silver, MD

Dr. Silver is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. His interests include management of patients with chronic kidney disease. A recognized authority on fluid and electrolyte disorders, Dr. Silver is on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York.





Dr. Shubha ShastryShubha Shastry, MD

Dr. Shastry earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Cornell University, and her PhD in Physiology from the Mayo Graduate School in Rochester, MN.   Following several years as an instructor and assistant professor at colleges and universities in both the United States and the West Indies, she earned her medical doctorate at the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies.   Dr. Shastry completed both her residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Nephrology at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, NY.
