About the Rochester General Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit
Rochester General Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is a 30-bed acute inpatient psychiatric unit. The unit provides medical and psychiatric services to adults with a diagnosis of psychotic disorders, affective disorders, organic brain syndrome and anxiety disorders with or without personality disorders and substance abuse problems.
Admissions occur from a variety of locations including home, emergency department, other units at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester Mental Health Center, Genesee Mental Health Center and other community health care institutions and programs.
The services provided at Rochester General Hospital's Inpatient Psychiatric Unit include a range of treatment modalities by a multidisciplinary team including:

||• Activities therapy
|• Individual behavioral therapy
||• Electroconvulsive therapy
|• Cognitive behavioral therapy
||• Social work services
|• Psychoeducational and group therapy
||• Medical management
While in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, our patients have access to a full range of hospital services as needed such as laboratory services, dental care, neurology, and pastoral care to name a few.

The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
