About Our Youth Apprenticeship Program

yap_stock

In 1989, a group of individuals from Bioscience and Health Careers at Benjamin Franklin High School and Rochester General came together with a vision to give high school students in the Rochester City School District the opportunity to gain “real-life” work experience in healthcare.

Over two decades later, students from the Rochester City School District continue to seize the opportunity to work side-by-side with the healthcare professionals at Rochester General Hospital through a two-year comprehensive paid internship. Schools currently participating with the program include:

  • All City High School
  • Brighton High School (Urban Suburban)
  • Charlotte High School
  • East High School
  • Edison High School
  • Leadership Academy for Young Men
  • Monroe High School
  • Rochester Early College
  • School of the Arts
  • School Without Walls
  • STEM High School
  • Wilson Magnet High School
