Is there a fee to use MyCare?
No. MyCare is a free service available to all of our patients.

Can I access family member medical records through MyCare?
Yes. If your spouse, children or parents are also patients of a Rochester General Health System-affiliated practice, you may receive what is called “proxy” access to their electronic medical records. Your parents and spouse can designate you as a “personal representative” which grants you proxy access. For minor children, proxy access may be limited based on the child’s age and the type of information a parent or legal guardian is allowed to view by law. Once proxy access is obtained, you will be able to easily access your family member’s information from your own MyCare account. Please consult with your family member’s care team to learn more about how to set up proxy access.

How long will it take for my lab and test results to appear in MyCare?
Typically, most lab results will be automatically entered in your MyCare file within three to ten business days after the test has been performed. Sensitive results such as HIV, STD and drug screen test results will not be released to your MyCare file. You will be contacted directly about these results, or you may receive them by contacting the office.

Will I be notified when test results are released to MyCare?
Yes. When new information is available in your MyCare file, an email tickler will be sent to the email address you provided when you registered for MyCare.

What types of appointments can be scheduled through MyCare?
Available appointment types may vary depending on the office but generally wellness check-ups, non-urgent new problem visits and follow-up appointments can be scheduled through MyCare.

Can I schedule same day appointments through MyCare?
No. Appointments scheduled through MyCare need to be made at least 24 hours in advance. Appointment cancellations through MyCare must be made more than 24 hours before the appointment.

Who else will have access to my MyCare account?
Your myCare account is private and can only be accessed by you or your approved proxy when you log in using your secure ID and password. However, the information contained in your Care Connect electronic medical record can be accessed, upon your authorization, by any RGHS physician or other provider who is involved in your care. All of the data in your electronic medical record is encrypted, so anyone who is not authorized will not be allowed access to your record.

How is MyCare kept secure?
We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal IDs and passwords. Each patient controls their own password and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Additionally, MyCare uses the latest encryption technology to maintain the highest level of security while you are logged into your account and communicating with your healthcare team.
