About the Crisis Intervention Unit
Rochester General Hospital's Crisis Intervention Unit, a 30-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit located within the Emergency Department, helps reduce the immediate distress of persons in mental health crisis and provides a safe environment that prevents individuals from doing harm to themselves or others.
The Crisis Intervention Unit provides an emergency evaluation, crisis intervention and referral to the level of care the individual needs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Services are provided to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Our team consists of a psychiatrist and psychiatric assignment officers (PAOs), all highly-trained mental health professionals.
About the Inpatient (G-1) Unit
The Psychiatric Inpatient Unit provides medical and psychiatric services to adults (age 18 or older) that experience psychiatric symptoms and require hospitalization. We offer a multidisciplinary care team of psychiatrists, internists, registered nurses, physicians assistant, social workers, activities therapists, and mental health technicians working together to provide a safe and therapeutic environment.
Partial Hospitalization Program
The Partial Hospitalization Program located adjacent to our inpatient unit provides mental health services for adult patients in crisis. The program aims to stabilize and reduce psychiatric symptoms, provide an alternative to inpatient hospitalization, or reduce the length of a hospital stay within a medically supervised program.
Services include assessment and evaluation, group therapy, individual treatment, case management, psychiatric evaluations and pharmacotherapy. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team including a psychiatrist, primary therapists, a registered nurse and case manager.
The program is offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm.
