The roles and positions for volunteers at Rochester General are highly focused on the care model and approach called Patient- and Family-Centered Care. Focusing our volunteer resources on the needs of patients and families before those of Caregivers, we are committed to enhancing and supporting the care, services, and experience of patients and their families from the moment they enter the facility to well after they have left to go home.
“What I feel most rewarded about is the feedback I get from people. I can feel that they appreciate it and it makes me feel good, just the fact that they appreciate what I’m doing.” (Jack Mahoney)
“I wanted something where I was moving around, and meeting people and having a lot of contact with people , so I chose discharge, and I’m glad I did.” (Jack Mahoney)
“I love everything about the volunteering that I do. I like having a scheduled day to come in, I like the time that I spend here, I met wonderful people, made some really great friends, and I like the fact that I can give a little of myself back to something in the community." (Kay Davis)
