TOP Performing Hospital
Premier Healthcare Alliance, 2011
The Premier Healthcare Alliance includes 2,500 U.S. hospitals and maintains the nation's most comprehensive repository of clinical, financial and outcomes information. In naming Rochester General Hospital a TOP Performing Hospital, Premier noted that in the three years ending December 2010, RGH safely reduced the cost of care by $7.2 million while saving 183 more lives than statistically expected.

Community Value Five-Star Hospital

Cleverley + Associates provides consulting to healthcare leaders. The firm's Community Value Index is comprised of ten measures that assess a hospital's financial viability, cost structure, charge structure and quality. Those hospitals with aggregate scores in the top twenty percent in the nation are designated as "Community Value Five-Star Facilities." Cleverley & Associates is now in its tenth year of publishing the Community Value Index.

IMS Health, a leading national analytics firm, has been evaluating the ability of health systems to operate as unified organizations since 1997. First published by IMS-predecessor SDI Health, and more recently by Becker's Hospital Review but still using rankings from IMS, the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks list includes those health systems with the highest aggregate scores for integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization and physicians.

Better Together Exemplar Hospital
Institute for Patent- and Family-Centered Care, 2014
The IPFCC’s Better Together campaign calls on all hospitals to welcome families 24 hours a day and to transform their approach to care so that patients' families and loved ones are included in care and decision-making. Studies and hospitals' experience show that unlimited access to family and loved ones reduces patient complications and stress, and improves the patient's experience of care in the hospital. The Joint Commission recommends that hospitals accommodate access to a patient's support person to encourage safer care. The IPFCC recognized Rochester General as one of twelve hospitals nationwide that exemplify success in eliminating restrictive visiting policies and are changing the concept of families as "visitors." 

NOVA Award
American Hospital Association, 2011
The AHA NOVA Awards honor effective, collaborative programs focused on improving community health status. RGH received the NOVA Award for its involvement as a partner in the Rochester Youth Violence Partnership, which works to keep teenagers from becoming repeat victims of gunshot or knife wounds. The Rochester Youth Violence Partnership was 1 of only 5 national award winners in 2011.

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFH) is a global program which recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding. Rochester General provides mothers with the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies or feeding formula safely.

National Hemophilia Foundation
RGH is a Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation and a NYS Diagnostic & Treatment Center providing treatment, education, advocacy, research and supportive programs to people affected by hemophilia and other inherited disorders.

Exemplar Hospital - Infection Prevention

IHI, an independent non-profit organization, focuses on motivating and building the will for change; identifying and testing new models of care in partnership with both patients and health care professionals; and ensuring the broadest possible adoption of best practices and effective innovations. RGH was named an exemplar hospital by IHI for its work in infection prevention.

Sustained Improvement Award
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2011
RGH was honored by HHS as part of a new national awards program designed to highlight successful and sustained efforts to prevent healthcare-associated infections, specifically infections in critical care settings. The awards recognize critical care professionals and healthcare institutions for their efforts to reduce, and eventually eliminate, ventilator-associated pneumonia and bloodstream infections associated with central intravenous lines.

Rochester General Hospital has been certified a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission since 2003, and designated a Stroke Center by the NYSDOH since 2005.

Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology
AAGL, 2012
Rochester General Hospital's Women's Health division and six of its associated physicians have been recognized as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology by the AAGL. Originally known as the American Assoication of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the membership of AAGL now encompasses more than laparoscopy alone and is proud to count among its members the foremost authorities in gynecology and pioneers in technique and procedures.

The Breast Center at Rochester General Hospital has been recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by the National Consortium of Breast Centers. The designation as a Breast Center of Excellence must be reaffirmed each year, and is awarded after meeting 33 National Quality indicators.

Rochester General Hospital's bariatric center, Bariatrics of Western New York, has been named a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Committee (SRC) in conjunction with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). ASMBS is the largest organization for bariatric surgeons in the world.

The Joint Commission
Rochester General Hospital has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™ for total hip and knee replacements performed at its Center for Orthopaedics. The certification award recognizes Rochester General Hospital's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art standards.

Blue Distinction Center+ for Hip & Knee Replacement

Rochester General Hospital's Center for Orthopaedics has been designated a Blue Distinction Center+ by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, in recognition of its expertise in quality and cost efficiency. Blue Distinction Centers+ demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes of patients, with lower rates of complications and read-missions and their peers. Blue Distinction Centers+ are also more than 20 percent more cost-efficient.
